Cut & Polish
Your car’s paintwork is affected by UV rays, the elements, bird droppings, tree sap and other contaminants which attack your car’s surface on a daily basis, leaving it dull and oxidized.
The polishing process can safely remove fine surface scratches and oxidization (fading). So what is compounding, polishing, paint rejuvenation, paint restoration, cut and polish?
Compounding is basically a term for using a cutting compound/paste to remove the fine scratches. Or to cut out surface scratches and extensive hazing and swirl marks. Polishing is a very broad term which can mean any of the various methods and techniques that are required to restore paintwork.
Paint rejuvenation & restoration is essentially the same. This is a term we use when the paintwork is oxidized, faded and heavily scratched which will need at least 3 stages of compounding, polishing and waxing performed.
Cut and Polish is a process which is used to remove surface scratches, light oxidation and swirl or haze marks. Firstly the paintwork will be prepared and cleaned by using a Clay Bar with waterless wax to the exterior for best results before applying the cutting compound. Where required, masking tape may be applied to protect non painted sections. It is then machined polished with our Rupes Bigfoot professional orbital buffing machine with coarse cutting compound which will safely remove the paints imperfections and followed by a layer of application of fine compound to increase gloss and clarity. Both of these 2 steps are applied using a soft foam pad. Your vehicle paintwork is then buffed using a professional grade microfiber polishing cloth.
